Putting in the Prep

Winter in this country - especially this one - seems to last a long time!  All the more reason to make time for some practice on your own game.

This past winter I had the pleasure of working with various golfers on my 'Winter Performance Plan' - golfers of ALL abilities.  Some beginners, some high, some mid and some low handicappers and each player got something different from it.  My plan provides a good structure for well planned out practice over the winter months and allows each player to either make the necessary changes or work on existing technique so that come the start of the season, you're not on the back-foot.

Thank you to those who have signed up this year and want to wish you all the best for the season ahead!  Now that the warmer weather seems to be with us, the season is now underway!

Details of my next performance plan will be released around September time so if you're keen to sign up, keep an eye out on my website for further details.

Have a great season folks!

Motocaddy have just released details on their PROMO running from April through to June for those who are thinking of upgrading their trolley!  They will give you £50 CASHBACK when you trade in your old electric trolley and purchase a BRAND NEW Motocaddy Lithium Trolley - a great deal!

We are all in NO DOUBT that playing golf using a power trolley saves us all energy instead of carrying our clubs on our back ..... allows us to expand more energy hitting the shots!!  Used by ALL ages of player it's an easy way to transport our clubs around the course - all you have to do is remember to charge it up!!  It obviously costs more to purchase but in the long run, a good investment and it'll help your back too!

Most trolleys fold up and are pretty easy to assemble and collapse and all are designed (pretty much) to fit in your car boot!

If you're interested in this offer, why not pop up to see us and we can assist with the trade-in!

Planning Easter Holidays?

As we tick off the md-term February break, we begin to focus on how we are going to entertain our kids during Easter - home or away, we've got it covered here!

With the hope we get good/dry weather, this could be the perfect time to enrol the kids to our golf coaching camps.  We are running daily classes from 9am drop off to 1pm collection time - a great break for you and a great chance for them to learn/develop their golfing skills.  All they need is their clubs (don't worry as we have spare junior clubs) and a packed lunch with a bottle of water!

Steven Maxwell our PGA Assistant Professional who runs our Junior Academy will be heading up the coaching camps this coming Easter break and he has a whole host of fun activities planned for all the budding golfers our there.  So, if you have kids who already play golf and want to come along, or, you're encouraging them to try a new sport, there's nothing better than golf!  All levels of golfers are welcome here!

Steven will be focussing on long iron shots, short game and putting over these 2 weeks with lots of fun activities planned along the way.  The kids will receive EXPERT PGA tuition right here!!

Prices per child per day is £15 and we offer a sibling discount of 10% - whether they want to come along and try it out for a day or a couple of days, you can sign them up for as little or as often as you like during the 2 weeks.

We have a sign up sheet in the Pro Shop, please call us on 01355 500285 to register and sign them up.

We look forward to seeing you in April!!

The TGI Annual Conference & Awards, St. Andrews, February 2018

I've been the Head Pro here now since March 2015 and can honestly say that I love my job - well it's made easier for me as I love golf and golf is my business!

I've never been nominated for any award - yes, I've won golf tournaments before - but I have to say this is totally different.  I was absolutely delighted to have got the call from Paul at TGI back in December to say that, alongside another 3 Pro's, I had been nominated for 'The Most Improved Business of 2017' Award.  I was surprised to say the least and humbled - moreso on Tuesday night when my name was called out on winning!

I have reflected quite a bit over these last few years on the changing trends in golf, especially private members clubs.  At Eastwood, we are without doubt, moving with the times - with a high-tec indoor teaching studio, fully equipped for custom fitting and coaching and a full retail/repair service in the Pro Shop - it's all going on here!  Membership is on the rise here and the people who play here enjoy it and make the most of their golf/work balance.

However, with the presence of the big stores such as American Golf, Golf Shop Online etc it becomes increasingly difficult for the Club Pro to compete with price-matching etc - but for me, I always try to do my best in terms of price.  On the flip side of that, what you do get is PGA Professional service and advice - all the way.  Anything from what type of grips you need/how many layers of tape, advice on shoes, waterproofs, golf bags - clubs, custom fitting right through to coaching - it's EXPERT advice and support.  These big conglomerates don't offer you that.

When I was in St. Andrews on Tuesday night, I was in company of many PGA Pro's from around the UK and it was great (not to mention worthwhile) to catch up with these guys.  What was obvious to me was the common focus in business between us all - customer service and value for money - that's the role of the PGA Pro in my opinion.  Someone who is here for YOU, the golfer, to give you advice, offer you support - maybe at a time when your game has left you ..... not to mention all other aspects of golf.

So, to this end, I'd like to thank those who voted for me at TGI, all the members at Eastwood and all my coaching clients who support me in my golfing business.  I will continue to strive to provide the best service to you!
